Ingres uses the “Best of Breed” approach and therefore has applications from multiple vendors, focused on open source and SaaS application offerings. With this approach, some pre-built integration was provided by the vendors, most notably Salesforce.com and Intacct, but in most cases, an integration tool was required to bridge these applications.
One application for this integration tool is to allow employee information to be shared between the HR and financial departments. A process was created to sync the employee records in Intacct with the employee data in ADP EmployEase. As a result, resources were freed up and the employee address, cost center, and management changes are integrated between the two systems.
Ingres also developed a reporting tool that combines data from multiple SaaS applications which allows for consolidated custom reports. Ingres uses their own Icebreaker BI Appliance to consolidate information from multiple business applications and to create custom reports. Beyond an ETL tool, Ingres needed an integration capability flexible enough to import data into Icebreaker from more than a dozen different SaaS and open source applications.
Ingres reviewed all of the leading SaaS and on premise integration solutions but found that most were complicated to implement and costly. They desired a solution that was low maintenance, low cost, and would offer the same value as their best-of-breed open source and SaaS applications.
Solution
By implementing AtomSphere, Ingres was able to bring in a complete integration service which is priced as a subscription service, avoiding huge up-front capital outlays for typical integration solutions. They were able to eliminate the need for duplicate, manual data entry between HR and Financials, import data into their BI appliance, and are now preparing additional time-saving integrations.
