Phased Migration from Old CRM system to Salesforce CRM
“Boomi AtomSphere was easy to learn and use. We were able to do the integration ourselves, without using outside consulting.” — Jason Walsh, Director of IT
Jason Walsh was tasked with a phased migration of multiple teams (Support, Marketing and Sales) from an old CRM system to Salesforce CRM while ensuring no team had to access two applications (old and new) at once. The integration need was to synchronize the data between the two CRM systems during each migration phase.
Solution
Geosoft evaluated two options: Boomi’s AtomSphere and an integration appliance. Boomi was the clear choice for two reasons. First, Geosoft is trying to keep servers out of the server room and move into the cloud. Second, Boomi’s flexible pay-as-you-go pricing model proved very economical for a migration project of set duration.
In phase one, Technical Support Representatives (TSRs) were moved to Salesforce CRM. Boomi is being used to send customer accounts, contacts and licensing information in real-time from the legacy system to Salesforce CRM, so TSRs only need to access one application. Phase two moves the Marketing team. Boomi will provide bi-directional synching of campaigns and lead management activities between the systems.
Results include:
- Quick, In-House Implementation: Implementation of phase one integration was completion in only a few weeks, due to the ease of building integrations on Boomi AtomSphere and the fast responsiveness of Boomi customer support.
- Low Ownership Costs: With Boomi’s pay-as-you-go pricing, Geosoft saved money by only paying for integration during the migration project. In addition, integration was done with in-house resources, avoiding outside consulting fees.
